What Is Meshtastic?

Meshtastic is an open-source, decentralized, off-grid mesh networking system designed for reliable long-range communication. It uses compact, low-power devices that automatically connect to one another to create a resilient mesh network. These devices can pair with a smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, allowing users to send messages and location data without relying on cellular service or the internet.

Powered by affordable LoRa radios, Meshtastic provides impressive range while maintaining low power consumption, making it ideal for hobbyists, emergency communication, outdoor recreation, and community mesh projects.

As a rapidly evolving technology, Meshtastic continues to grow and improve through active development and a large community of users and amateur radio operators.

Meshtastic typically operates in the 915 MHz / 33 cm ISM band under FCC Part 15 rules, with many users also integrating it into amateur radio activities. For detailed technical documentation, device guides, and the latest updates, visit the official Meshtastic website.
